Training/Learning Needs Analysis
How would you know if training can solve your business problems? How do you find out which employees need training, and on what skills and competencies?
With limited budgets, organizations are under pressure to ensure that their training dollars are targeted at areas that assure positive return on investment. Effectiveness of learning and development initiatives depends on knowing what is required – for individuals, for departments, and for the entire organization. Training Needs Analysis, therefore, is a vital prerequisite for initiating a training program.
Our experienced consultants can take up Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to assess your organization’s training requirements. They identify the business issues that can be resolved through training interventions, and suggest suitable learning solutions. They assess the existing levels of skills and competencies of target audiences, establish the levels required, and produce a Gap Analysis. The findings from the TNA form the basis for the design of the training solutions that they then propose.

Curriculum Development
We believe that a learner-centric approach, where the needs of the learner are the focus and genesis of all design considerations, yields the most effective curriculum design. Our experienced instructional designers are well versed in the use of strategies such as Active Learning, Blended Learning, Just-in-Time Learning, and various combinations of formal and informal learning to design curricula that guaranty the desired outcomes.
Methodologies used for curriculum development vary to suit the specifics of the case. However, all variations include the five essential elements: Planning, Visioning, Assessment, Improvement & Alignment, and Monitoring & Adaptation.
Our instructional designers work as extensions to your team, collaborating closely with your Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and others to analyze source-content, define learning objectives, map content to learning goals, and formulate assessment strategies. The roadmap to the successful completion of a curriculum is reviewed, every detail scrutinized, and each stage rehearsed before it is rolled out to the audience.
Staff Augmentation
We can depute skilled personnel to work with you as an extension of your team. We have partnered with many of our clients to deliver complex projects on time, to expected quality, and within budget, and our staff augmentation services have played a vital role in the success.

Scenario / Role Based Learning
In keeping with our learner-centric approach to curriculum design, we have garnered considerable expertise in implementing scenario-based learning solutions for our clients. Scenario-based learning stands apart from the myriad instructional design theories and models in its exceptional effectiveness in learner engagement, which is arguably one of the biggest challenges in learning design today.
Rooted in principles of Situated Learning Theory and Situated Cognition, scenario-based learning leverages the theory that learning best happens in the context in which it is going to be used. It builds on problem-based learning or case studies by packaging them in interactive scenarios that provide the context for learning. It thus immerses learners in real life or situational simulations which compel them to gather skills or information that they will recall for future use. Information offered in this way in a contextual setting enables learners to not only manage it in short term memory but also easily transition the information to long term memory, thus increasing retention.
Over the years we have developed and fine-tuned our scenario-writing skills. The scenarios we write/use ensure that:
- The context of the scenarios are realistic enough to engage the learners without using extraneous information that could distract them from the learning goals
- They challenge the learners without overwhelming their mental faculties
- They do not lead to information overload for the learners
- Interactivity is maintained at a high level — learners learn by doing, rather than by reading

Instructor-led Training (ILT)
This traditional way of training and learning is still popular, and certain kinds of training involving the affective domain can be delivered only through classroom training.
We can analyze your training requirements, identify the areas that are best delivered through instructor-led training, and design and develop the training material – instructor guides, presentation slides and media clips, participant guides and handouts, workbooks, and workshop/laboratory guides (where applicable) for you. While the instructionally sound training content is engaging and impactful, and optimizes understanding and retention by the learners, our rigorous development process ensures quality training material that has been vetted and approved by your subject matter experts. We can even conduct train-the-trainer sessions and pilot sessions for you.

Responsive eLearning
With the World on the move, today’s learner can’t be confined to classrooms or desktops. Learning can, and should, happen anywhere, anytime. This implies that learning delivery mechanisms need to be independent of devices or locations.
But how does one create eLearning courseware that can be delivered over such a wide variety of devices ranging from desktops to smartphones? The answer seems to lie in ‘Responsive eLearning’.
We have developed a responsive eLearning framework using HTML 5and CSS, which enables us to develop eLearning courses that can be deployed on multiple types of devices. The eLearning courses made using this framework automatically adapt to the display size of the devices they are running on, without loss in content detail or accuracy.
We can build courses for you using Responsive eLearning, to help make your content future-proof in terms of mobility.
Software Simulation
To learn how to use any software tool, learners need to have access to the software. Hands-on practice on the software tool is absolutely necessary to develop any level of competency in using the tool. But it is often not possible to arrange for access to software for the purpose of training. This is when software simulation comes in as an invaluable technique for imparting training.
Software simulation has its roots in Experiential Learning or “Learning by Doing”. When the learning outcome demands that learners perform tasks, with little or no supervision, then the only effective instructional/learning strategy is to perform and practice the tasks within a controlled and safe environment — a simulated environment.
We have a vast experience of creating eLearning courses that use software simulations. We have considerable expertise in the use of popular simulation capture tools such as Adobe Captivate and Camtasia, and incorporating software simulations in eLearning lessons.
Video Based Learning
A picture speaks a thousand words, and a video clip many more”. Video clips can deliver complex learning content very effectively. Video is a preferred medium for imparting training on subjects such as handling and maintenance of machinery and gadgets, or face-to-face communication etiquettes.
Edutech can create video-based eLearning courses for its clients. The services we offer include:
- Shooting of video footage, editing, and post production
- Creation of complete video-based eLearning courses that can also be deployed through mobile platforms
Gamification may be the most important social and commercial development of the next fifty years
Here is how we implement Gamification for you
Gamification is gaining popularity in the world of learning and training because of its effectiveness in engaging learners. However, indiscriminate attempts at gamifying all types of learning programs are unlikely to yield results.
We can help you determine the practicality of implementing gaming in your learning programs. Our gamified learning solutions are based on the appropriateness of games in motivating and engaging learners in your specific learning/training requirements, and the desired outcomes. While learner motivation and engagement is the driver, the focus is on content mastery and job performance. We design and develop learning games that address your specific training needs, and we succeed because we understand business and human performance/motivation, and the relation between the two.
Our engagements with clients for developing game-based learning solutions are built around a few “Best Practices” that we have developed over the years and found consistently effective. These are:
- Defining the business objectives/goals and associated metrics: At the very outset we define the business objectives to be achieved through the training program and the metrics to measure the success. We then determine if gaming can be effective in meeting the objectives.
- Focus on the learning goals, with game play as the theme in the background: The learning goals are the destination and the game is the means to get there. The game is built around the content to be mastered, not the other way round.
- Viewership is not same as engagement: We understand the importance of designing to engage learners. That’s why we ensure that actions and achievements are visibly kinked.
- Connect to the real world: The elements of the game, such as the rules, challenges, and rewards, should relate to the real world as far as possible. This helps transfer of learning to the actual job environment.

Just-In-Time Learning / Learning Nuggets
Just-in-time (JIT) learning is about learning at the point of time when it is needed, as opposed to learning well in advance or at a scheduled time in preparation for the time when the knowledge will be needed. JIT learning is “learning anywhere, anytime”.
Learning nuggets are short pieces of learning, typically of 3-4 minutes duration, and can be delivered in various formats including mobile delivery formats. Most often, learning nuggets are broadcast in frequent intervals and are suitable for “learning on the go”, and for performance support.
In our experience, learning nuggets go very well with JIT learning to provide the ideal learning support to employees who do not have the time to sit through instructor-led or eLearning training programs. For such a workforce “anywhere, anytime learning” is the best option. We have also successfully employed JIT learning and learning nuggets to implement performance support as a component of blended learning solutions.
Content Migration
We can help you migrate your legacy learning management systems and learning content management systems to advanced technology-enabled interventions. We can also take up rationalization and/or upgrade of you learning inventory as a part of the migration exercise. Such exercises often open up opportunities for new content development, which we can partner with you in developing.
App Development
We can develop mobile applications to augment/support your learning inventory and management system. Depending on your choice, the applications could be operable on any or all of the three predominant mobile platforms: Apple iOS, Windows Phone, and Google Android.
